Thai Island Restaurant

This restaurant is good if you're willing to wait. I got in right after it opened, ordered a simple entree, and waited for more than 20 minutes to get it. People with take out orders came and went, but dining area was mostly empty. The food was good, but the long wait really dampened my impression.

I ordered the seafood pad Thai. I my only complaint is that the menu on their website was different from what I was actually served and my food had a LOT of cracked mussel shells throughout. Other than that, the food was delicious. I'll just have to order it with mussels to avoid the shells.

What a find family owned on the Island or over 20 years. The staff is friendly and so helpful takes the fear out of ordering if you are not familiar with Thai fair. We had the calamari and it was best I have had in a long time. The Kao Pad was amazing and I added the seafood combination and every bite had fresh seafood. Definitely will return! Tell Clay that Frank sent you!

Some of the best Thai food in Tampa. I used to love this place when I went to college here in 2005, and glad to see it has not changed one bit. Pad thai tastes just like it does in Southern Thailand.

3/4 dishes were just ok. The worst being the chicken with cabbage noodle bowl (I don't remember the actual dish name) I asked if they could make it very spicy and the server said yes but suggested that could be a bad idea. I still requested it spicy and once I received it, there was no spice at all (confirmed by the rest of the table) in fact it had no flavor at all. The dish ended up being boiled bland chicken water with rice noodles and some lettuce; not cabbage. I then complained and asked for some spice, which they added almost none and just brought me the holder with three sauces on it. Aside from that the prices are horrible; seriously 15ish$ for boiled chicken water!?!? The only reason I am giving a star is because the female server was good about getting us drinks, however she wasn't our actual server. EPIC FAIL!
