Very good history museum. A lot of information and facts in an easy and fun way.

Great fun learning about Vikings. Wish we had more time for equally interesting 2nd floor exhibits on other parts of Sweden's history. Appreciated the discussion of Sweden's ups and downs including losing more than 25% of population to emigration in the 1800s which allowed swedes who left for the US and those who stayed in Sweden to thrive

It's a good museum with some decent activities for the kids.

A top tip for potential visitors: when you enter, straight ahead there's a small corridor with free lockers on the right to put your bags/rucksacks in. They really don't like you carrying them around so put them in the lockers!
(grumble....they should put up some nice clear signs about that as you go in - it would save them having to chase you down!)

Upstairs is not very suitable for younger kids especially if they're enthusiastic, stick to downstairs.

A really good history museum with big viking and medieval exhibitions.

The middle section between both is a bit "experimental" for my taste (let's say it could benefit from a rethinking).

And at the end there is a last century section that is also interesting even if it is meant for children and teens.

One of the best, most thoughtfully designed museums I've encountered, and it's free! Substantial exhibit on the Vikings, history of Sweden, and even a reflection section on museums themselves which was very unique. Very kid-friendly as well - there is a Viking story section, though most of the books are in Swedish. Highly recommend as a must-see while in Stockholm!
