Had a glass of chenin Blanc wine, £6 a glass so a bit pricey, was looking forward to it as its my favourite wine, but totally disappointed don't know how long the bottle had been opened but it was like a glass of vinegar. Yuck!!!!!

Great Pub, just across from New Street train station, they do bar food, a really good selection of gins and the place is not dominated by gigantic telly's, worth checking out. As a tourist I found the staff very helpful and friendly !!

Had the Nicholson's Breakfast. Not aweful but not great. Hash browns, bacon and grilled tomato were, for my tastes, perfect. Even the black pudding was nice, my issue with the BP was that there was only a quarter of a slice. Beans tasted so bland and flavourless it was almost too much to cope with. The scrambled egg was too sloppy for my liking and bland. Prefer mine with some pepper and salt and firm but I didn't make this clear before hand so my own fault. The toasted muffin was the biggest disaster. Soggy and cold on one side, thing toasting on the other. Not enough butter to cover both (suspect cheap bland marg also).

It went down but I think I would look elsewhere in future. It's a £6.50 experiment if you need breakfast.

Really like this place. Wondered in after missing a train and was glad I came. Friendly staff, good quiet drink, from a good selection. I'll be coming back on my next trip.

Decent place to stop if you're between trains in Birmingham. More or less across the street from the Stephenson Street entrance to New Street Station. They do very reasonably-priced deals on pie and ale combinations and the food is palatable and filling. The people are very friendly and the service is quick. Beers are well-kept and there's a reasonable range of cask ales.
